Following are excerpts of activities reported by the Greene County sheriff’s office:
Saturday, June 30: At 1 am a deputy investigated a theft in the 200 block of N. 16th St in Grand Junction. At 8:30 am a deputy investigated another theft in the 200 block of N. 16th St in Grand Junction. At 11:14 am a deputy investigated an assault on Highway 4 (I Ave) near 130th St north of Churdan.
Friday, June 29: At 2:05 am a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on Highway 30 near F Ave. Kaleb Lentz, 23, of Scranton struck a deer with a 2011 GMC Acadia, causing an estimated $1,500 damage. At 10:15 pm a deputy investigated a domestic assault in the 1900 block of Locust St in Scranton. Nathaniel Brown, 51, of Scranton was arrested for domestic abuse assault- third offense*.
Thursday, June 28: At 7:02 am a deputy investigated a trespassing complaint on County Road N-58 (A Ave) just north of Ralston in Kendrick Township. Amanda Thompson, 37, no address, was arrested on a probation violation arrest warrant out of Audubon County. At 10:10 pm a deputy investigated a burglary in the 900 block of 190th St in Bristol Township. At 10:10 pm a deputy investigated a single vehicle accident in the 1200 block of Eaton Ave north of Scranton. Craig Chitty, 36, of Audubon struck a deer and then entered the ditch. His 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe rolled in the accident. Chitty was not injured; damage to his vehicle exceeded value. Greene County Emergency Medical Services assisted at the scene.

Tuesday, June 26: At 8:36 am the Sheriff and deputies assisted Carroll County with a pursuit that ended in Carroll County with a stolen vehicle and wanted subject.
Monday, June 25: At 12:21 pm a deputy investigated an unsafe roadway complaint on Highway 144 near Dana. At 12:58 pm a deputy arrested Daryle Snyder, 50, of Perry on an arrest warrant for a probation violation*.
Sunday, June 24: At 9:55 am a deputy tried to locate a horse that was running loose in the 1900 block of Q Ave in Franklin Township. At 3:42 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of 4-wheelers and dirt bikes tearing up McMahon Access in Jackson Township. At 10:11 pm a deputy investigated a burglary in the 500 block of Madison St in Scranton. At 11:17 pm a deputy investigated a report of a bobcat near some tents at Adkins Park in Washington Township.
Saturday, June 23: At 6:18 pm a deputy investigated a two-vehicle accident on Highway 144 just north of County Road E-26 (170th St) in Junction Township. Donald Niles, 57, of Paton was operating his 2004 GMC Yukon when Tristan Gayhart, 32, of Minnesota came across the center line and the vehicles’ mirrors struck each other. Gayhart was operating a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado. At 9:09 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on County Road E-18 (130th St) near P Ave in Dawson Township. Megan Saffell, 32, of Jefferson struck a deer with her 2004 Mitsubishi Galant, causing an estimated $5,000 in damage. At 9:46 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of fireworks being shot off in the 800 block of Percival St in Grand Junction. At 10:41 pm a deputy located a dead calf that was struck by a vehicle on County Road E-57 (290th St) near K Ave in Greenbrier Township. The cow was also on the roadway.
Friday, June 22: At 5:36 am a deputy investigated cattle out on County Road E-26 (170th St) near Highway 144 in Junction Township. At 6:25 am a deputy investigated cattle out on E-26 near T Ave in Junction Township. At 4:42 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of a scam phone call received in Grand Junction. At 6:06 pm a deputy investigated complaint of a scam phone call received in Grand Junction. At 11:48 pm a deputy investigated a single vehicle accident on Highway 144 near E-26. Courtney Bernickus, 24, of Churdan was driving a 2008 Dodge Charger when she struck a cow on the roadway, causing an estimated $4,000 in damage to her vehicle.
Thursday, June 21: At 7:19 am a deputy investigated cattle out in the school parking lot in Churdan. At 9:40 am a deputy tried to locate cattle on the Union Pacific railroad track near T Ave in Junction Township. At 12 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 2000 block of T Ave in Washington Township. At 11:24 pm a deputy checked into a low hanging power line in Paton. At 6:44 pm a deputy investigated a hit and run accident on the Raccoon River bridge on Highway 30 near County Road P-14 west of Jefferson. An unknown driver lost a trailer he was towing; the trailer struck the guard rails on the bridge causing an estimated $3,000 in damage to the rails. The trailer had no registration or identifying numbers. At 8:22 pm the sheriff and a deputy investigated an assault in the 200 block of Seventh St in Grand Junction. At 11:09 pm the sheriff investigated a harassment complaint in the 200 block of Paton St in Paton.
Wednesday, June 20: At 12:49 am the sheriff arrested Rob Herridge, 23, of Scranton for driving while barred*. At 9:29 am the Greene County sheriff’s office, Greene County EMS, Grand Junction rescue, and Jefferson fire department responded to a fully engulfed house fire in the 800 block of 11th St N in Grand Junction. Everybody was out of the house. The house was a total loss. At 11:48 am a deputy investigated an assault in the 600 block of 18th St North in Grand Junction. At 4:41 pm a deputy checked on cattle that were stuck in flood waters near Paton.
Tuesday, June 19: At 9 am a deputy investigated a burglary in the 1800 block of Redwood Ave in Grant Township. At 9:32 am a deputy investigated a single vehicle accident in the 1200 block of County Road E-33 (190th St). Crystal Beyers, 37, of Jefferson hydroplaned on standing water on the roadway and lost control and went into the ditch. There was no damage to the 2001 Ford Focus. At 8:10 pm the sheriff assisted the Jefferson PD with an arrest. At 9:17 pm the sheriff investigated a report of smoke in a abandoned building east of W Ave on Highway 30.
Monday, June 18: At 8:45 am a deputy assisted the city of Grand Junction with municipal infractions in the 600 block of S. 13th St. At 3:04 pm a deputy investigated an assault in the 400 block of N. 16th St in Grand Junction. Arrest warrants have been requested for James Hoyle, 18, of Beaver.* At 8:02 pm a deputy investigated a domestic assault in the 1000 block of Sand St in Churdan. David Hoyle, 34, of Churdan was arrested for domestic abuse assault- second offense.*
Sunday, June 17: At 1:51 am a traffic stop on Highway 30 at County Road P-46 (W Ave) resulted in the arrest of Aretina Jackson, 39, of Des Moines for driving while license barred and possession of marijuana.* At 8:22 pm a deputy investigated a trespass complaint in the 1300 block of Orchard Ave in Hardin Township. Adam Winger, 37, of Jefferson was arrested for criminal trespass.*
Saturday, June 16: At 2:07 am a deputy investigated a fireworks complaint in the 300 block of Irving St in Scranton. At 11:35 am a deputy investigated a fire that was found to be a controlled burn on 235th St (location not provided). At 7:49 pm a deputy assisted the Boone County sheriff’s office with locating a vehicle in the 200 bock of N. 16th St in Grand Junction.
Friday, June 15: At 6:57 am a deputy assisted an Iowa State Patrol officer with an arrest on County Road N-58 (A Ave) near 177th St in Kendrick Township.
Thursday, June 14: A deputy investigated criminal mischief in the 2000 block of T Ave in Franklin Township. At 10:21 pm a deputy investigated a noise complaint at 16th St and Percival St in Grand Junction.
Wednesday, June 13: At 3:35 am a deputy found a dog running at large in Rippey. The dog was taken to the animal holding facility. At 10:54 am a deputy investigated a theft in progress at Black’s pit on Highway 30. Jerry Kennedy, 38, of Boone was arrested for theft- fifth degree, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana.* At 5 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 500 block of 11th St in Grand Junction. At 10:25 pm a deputy investigated a fireworks complaint in the 1000 block of Sand St in Churdan. At 11:08 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 200 block of Adaza St in Adaza.
Tuesday, July12: At 2:17 am a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with a traffic stop on Highway 30 and Oakland Ave east of Jefferson. At 8:35 am a deputy assisted the city of Grand Junction with the towing of some vehicles in the 700 block of Railroad St. At 4:51 pm a deputy investigated a domestic assault in the 500 block of S. 11th St in Grand Junction. Jeremy Andrews, 30, of Grand Junction was arrested for domestic abuse assault- first offense.* At 6:44 pm a deputy, Greene County EMS, and Grand Junction fire and rescue responded to Spring Lake Park for a camper that had a propane leak. One camper was taken to ER for propane inhalation.
Monday, June 11: At 12:13 am a deputy investigated a burglary in the 800 block of Sand St in Churdan. At 4:22 pm a deputy investigated a harassment complaint in the 800 block of 170th St in Highland Township. At 9:47 pm a deputy assisted the jailer with an unruly inmate.
Sunday, June 10: At 8:02 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with an arrest in the 1000 block of N. Walnut St. At 10:56 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on County Road P-14 (J Ave) near 237th St. Heather Booth, 40, of Bagley struck a deer with her 2004 Dodge Durango, causing an estimated $5,000 in damage to the vehicle.
Saturday, June 9: At 6:17 pm a deputy investigated a backing accident at Spring Lake Park. Janet Padgett, 70, of Harcourt backed a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck into a parked 2013 Dodge Avenger (owner not listed). Damage to the Avenger was estimated at $5,000. There was no damage to the pickup truck. At 9:50 p a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on County Road -65 (D Ave) and 105th St in Cedar Township. Paul Gehling, 48, of Scranton struck a deer with his 2007 Dodge Durango, causing an estimated $500 in damage to the vehicle. At 9:54 pm a deputy assisted an Iowa State Patrol officer with transporting three persons to the Law Enforcement Center.
Friday, June 8: At 10:08 am a deputy investigated a burglary in the 400 block of 110th St in Cedar Township. At 7:28 pm a deputy investigated a 911 hang-up at Spring Lake Park.
Thursday, June 7: At 1:43 am a deputy and the Grand Junction fire department responded to a car fire in the 1200 block of E. Main St in Grand Junction. A 1996 Ford F250 was totaled in the fire. At 6:01 am a deputy and the Rippey fire department responded to smoke in a house in the 100 block of W. Percival St in Rippey. The smoke was caused by a faulty sump pump. At 9:50 am a deputy investigated a theft in the 200 block of North 16th St in Grand Junction. At 4 pm the sheriff and a deputy investigated a single vehicle accident on County Road E-53 near Jordan Ave west of Jefferson. Immanuel Jubell, 18, of Scranton lost control of a 2005 Ford Taurus and entered the south ditch, hitting a driveway. Greene County EMS responded but did not transport. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $3,000. At 6:51 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 800 block of Hills Ave in Churdan. At 8:32 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on County Road E-53 near S Ave west of Grand Junction. Josefina Stevens, 70, of Jefferson struck a deer with her 2010 Toyota Prius, causing an estimated $1,400 in damage.
Wednesday, June 6: At 3:58 am a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with a domestic assault in the 500 block of E. Clark St. At 9:30 am a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on County Road P-30 near Redwood Ave in Grant Township. Jon Hovick, 43, of Jefferson struck a deer with his 2015 Jeep Patriot causing $2,500 in damage. At 7:55 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with two arrests. At 8:40 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on County Road E-33 (190th St) near Highway 4 in Hardin Township. Douglas Hawn, 60, of Scranton struck a deer with his 2015 Chevrolet Silverado causing an estimated $1,000 in damage.

Monday, June 4: At 8:30 am a deputy investigated a theft in the 2200 block of 330th St in Washington Township. At 2:59 pm a deputy investigated a bullet hole in the window of the Grand Junction library. At 3:30 pm a deputy investigated a burglary in the 1100 block of R Ave in Hardin Township.
Sunday, June 3: At 11:26 am a deputy investigated a dog bite in the 800 block of Lincoln St in Scranton. At 12:05 pm a deputy tried to locate three dogs running at large in Scranton. At 12:43 pm a deputy tried to locate a German shepherd running at large in Scranton. At 2:20 pm a deputy, Greene County Emergency Medical Services, and the Rippey fire department responded to a single vehicle accident (no location given). Nicholas Hidlebaugh, 20, of Rippey was riding the back of a truck on some tubes. The wind caught the tubes, causing Hidlebaugh to fall out of the truck. He was taken by Greene County EMS to the Dallas County Hospital with serious injuries. At 7:13 pm a deputy located some dogs running at large on Irving St in Scranton. The dogs were returned to the owner.

Friday, June 1: At 12:23 am a deputy assisted the Jefferson police department with a fight in the 700 block of S. Chestnut St. At 3:30 pm a deputy investigated credit card fraud in the 1300 block of X Ave in Junction Township. At 4:27 pm a deputy investigated a single vehicle accident on Highway 30 and R Ave east of Jefferson. Mary Vanness, 64, of Nebraska lost control of her 2005 Harley Davidson cruiser. The Jefferson fire department, Greene County EMS, and the Jefferson PD assisted. Vaness was taken by Greene County EMS to the Greene County Medical Center with minor injuries. The motorcycle was totaled in the accident. At 7:53 pm a deputy investigated a trespass complaint in the 900 block of 110th St in Highland Township.
